After an overnight stay for treatment of a gallstone, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was released from a Maryland hospital on Wednesday. A Supreme Court statement said that she is “doing well and glad to be home.” It is anticipated that Justice Ginsburg will receive further treatment for the condition at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore in the near future.
The 87 year-old justice participated in the first ever Supreme Court conference call from the hospital on Wednesday morning. The unprecedented decision to hear arguments via phone was launched this week in order to keep cases moving forward in the midst of the pandemic. The next scheduled oral arguments are also to be held by a conference call of the Supreme Court on Monday May 11.
